I followed it to the website of WPHNA and got lost in all of Carlos Montario's pdf's. Then I read the article on their website about their social links and went to Facebook to like their page. While I was there I saw your post about your creative chart and followed that link to your blog. Your chart is a great visual for what is the message about Real Food. I'm amazed at how little people know when it comes to proper nutrition. Kids & parents alike are all but brainwashed into thinking that breakfast, lunch & dinner come from cardboard boxes covered in cartoons. My intention on the miles is origin of ingredients contained in the package. So the rice harvested in china would display all of the miles from china. I think it would be very powerful to show the stuff in a Rice-A-Roni package traveled a few thousand miles to get in the box.Joanne M. I assume we are reporting the number of miles travelled to compile the labeled product. So rice harvested in a field in china and packaged in the local village might say "5 miles" but is then shipped halfway around the world.Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16252509112410885872noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-514892958818424211.post-46458704646164789722010-11-21T11:53:37.411-05:002010-11-21T11:53:37.411-05:00This is so funny. My mind was totally blown. I just really hate how companies can say whatever they want on tv about their product and its just craziness most of the time. Consumers need to get smart and find out for themselves what they're really eating.Ohhh_your_facehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13687336932507641654noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-514892958818424211.post-2336350221349061362010-11-16T09:46:49.061-05:002010-11-16T09:46:49.061-05:00Thanks, Mark. I was thinking about the miles to fork concept and how that translates to products shipped nationally.

My thought is to change from displaying distance to instead display a map of the USA. Divide it be region and Mark in Green where it came from. If ingredients came from outside the USA display the Map of the USA as a negative.

This might be more palatable to manufacturers. One label that would display origin and still favor produce from the local region. To add one wrinkle to this you could add the State code to the map if all ingredients were from a single state.Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16252509112410885872noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-514892958818424211.post-57377309114433389002010-10-06T02:15:19.010-04:002010-10-06T02:15:19.010-04:00Very very nice article. I couldn't agree with ...Very very nice article. I couldn't agree with you more about raising the awareness and education of consumers. A lot of products have bold claims stamped on their labels. Examples are 100% natural, Sugar-free, low-cal, No Preservatives, etc. This can go on and on and on. If you're a gullible consumer, you'll think you're doing yourself a favor if you get these products. But if you'll look closely, just at the back of the food label, you'll see that the product you bought isn't so natural at all.

Kids love chocolate milk and probably a lot of tots ask their moms for a glass during breakfast or before going to sleep. If moms are not careful, they might be giving their kids unnecessary sugar and fats and just a minimal amount of the benefits chocolate milk.

Thanks for sharing this product. Now moms have a healthier choice for their kids.Unknownhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03459195254289444888noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-514892958818424211.post-48722853879569512892010-09-09T13:49:29.960-04:002010-09-09T13:49:29.960-04:00Thanks, Joanna.
